E-Bike Seizure

🚔ILLEGAL E‑BIKE SEIZED 🚔
Great work by Sgt Scribbins and PC Adamson, who recovered an illegally modified e‑bike after the rider tried to flee — but was quickly caught by the fast‑footed officers.
A quick test showed the bike could travel well above the legal 15.5 mph limit, making it illegal to use on the road.
The rider walked away without his wheels… and with a ticket for no licence and no insurance.
These illegally modified bikes pose a real danger to pedestrians and other road users.

 

Legal E‑Bike Reminder:
An e‑bike is only classed as an EAPC if it:
• Has pedals you can use to propel it
• Has a motor rated at 250W or below
• Cuts electrical assistance at 15.5 mph
Anything above these limits is treated as a motor vehicle — meaning it must be registered, insured, taxed, and the rider must hold a valid licence and wear a motorcycle helmet.
